This chair yoga program is designed to help you quickly develop a solid foundation in chair yoga, so that you can practice or teach it safely and effectively.
By the end of this course, you will have the tools and confidence to practice chair yoga or teach chair yoga classes to a wider range of individuals.
For Yoga Alliance teachers: This course qualifies for 30 Yoga Alliance continuing education points.

While yoga offers numerous benefits, contraindications exist because every body is different, and what helps one person may not be safe for another. This is why we must take an individualized approach, always considering a student’s health history and any guidance from their doctor or physiotherapist.
For example, backbends can strengthen the spine, but for someone with osteoporosis, a herniated disc, or acute pain, backbends would be inappropriate. Similarly, forward folds can release tension but may be contraindicated for certain spinal conditions.
As teachers, our role is to offer safe and adaptable options, encouraging students to move within a pain-free range of motion and listen to their bodies. Chair yoga, props, and mindful breathwork can provide accessible alternatives, ensuring that yoga remains inclusive, supportive, and beneficial for all.
